Answer:

No,I am not agree with Nick Carr, because advances in technology gives the companies a competitive advantage.Nowadays information technology is important in businesses ,it is expensive but it is useful.

2. Do you agree with the argument made by the business leaders in this case in support of the competitive advantage that IT can provide to a business? Why or why not?

Answer:

I agree with Michael Dell’s statement, that without the proper use of the equipment, it’s expense outweighs the benefits gained. It is important to people that are competent in the emerging of IT fields. With these advancement in technology it makes the work fatest as they can .

3. What are several ways that IT could provide a competitive advantage to a business? Use some of the companies mentioned in this case as examples. Visit their websites to gather more information to help you answer.

Answer:

1. Are many of Lufthansa’s challenges identified in the case similar to those being experienced by other businesses in today’s global economy? Explain and provide some examples.

Answer:
Yes, like Lufthansa, some businesses also experienced those kinds of challenges. Companies should focus on their employee’s performance and capability, they should exert effort on trainings and work necessitates mobile technology. Other businesses also face challenges such as communicating efficiently between large groups of employees.


2. What other tangible and intangible benefits, beyond those identified by Lufthansa, might a mobile workforce enjoy as a result of deploying mobile technologies? Explain.

Answer:Tangible benefits would be laptops and any other high technologies that are useful for home and offices. Less cost for payments especially for training facilities, and other expenses. More determined and inspired employees will work happily in the newly developed surroundings.


3. Lufthansa was clearly taking a big risk with their decision to deploy notebook computers to their pilots. What steps did they take to manage that risk and what others might be needed in today’s business environment? Provide some examples.

Answer:Lufthansa created a list of parameters that notebook PCs needed to meet before purchasing the laptops. They created their own secure network.

Answer: I think it will not be successful because the major events that Atos Origin developed were dependent on the system.

2. The 2004 Olympics is a global business. Can a business today succeed without information technology? Why or why not?

Answer: Many businesses nowadays introducing their product through on-line. With this, the customer can easily access their product with the help of new technology. For organizations/companies it helps a lot when using information technology because it is the easy way to introduce the products and services.
